Ben Harper has a family and works as a dentist. He is also having a mid-life crisis and trying to deal with the strange reality of raising teenagers. His wife Susan seems pretty happy and likes her job as a tour guide in London. At home, though, she has trouble finding her way around a cookbook or pantry. Their three kids Nick, Janey, and Michael are as different as chalk and cheese. Nick, who is 19, is taking a gap year, but he doesn't get much further than the couch or the job center. Janey is as smart as a tack and 16 going on 25, and Michael is a very smart, computer-nerdy 12-year-old who is just discovering girls.
