Ni Hao, Kai-Lan

The first episode of Ni Hao, Kai-Lan aired on Nickelodeon on November 5, 2007, and on Noggin on December 15, 2008. It was also shown for the first time on the Canadian TV channel Treehouse TV. The show has also been on Nickelodeon in Israel since March 2009. The show Ni Hao, Kai-lan is based on the creator Karen Chau's memories of growing up in a bicultural family. "Hello" in Mandarin is "ni hao," and Chau was born with the Chinese name Kai-Lan, which was later changed to "Karen" in English.
