Out of the Unknown
Anthology drama series Out of the Unknown was shown on BBC2 from 1965 and 1971, with four episodes created and screened by the BBC. In each episode, a science fiction narrative was dramatized. Several were created specifically for the series, but the majority were adaptations of stories that had already appeared in print elsewhere. It was a science fiction-only course for the first three years, but in the final year, we switched to horror and fantasy stories. According to customary practice at the time, several episodes were deleted in early 1970s. There are still many episodes that have not been found, although some have been returned to the BBC from European broadcaster archives, such as Level Seven from Series 2, first broadcast on October 27, 1966.
