Outrageous Fortune is a comedy-drama TV show from New Zealand that ran from July 12, 2005, to November 9, 2010, on TV3. The series followed the lives of the West family, who were always breaking the law, after the family matriarch, Cheryl, decided that the family should stop breaking the law and start doing the right thing. The show was made by James Griffin and Rachel Lang, and South Pacific Pictures was in charge of making it. Like the show itself, the names of the episodes came from quotes by William Shakespeare. After 6 seasons and 107 episodes, the show ended. It was New Zealand's longest-running drama series. Robyn Malcolm, Antony Starr, Siobhan Marshall, Antonia Prebble, Frank Whitten, and Kirk Torrance were the main actors on the show for its entire run. Grant Bowler had small parts in the first five seasons. The first episode of the show aired on July12,2005, and it was well received. During its first four years, it won many of the most important New Zealand television awards. Malcolm's performance was praised by most New Zealand reviewers. After the success of Outrageous Fortune, both the US and UK made their own versions of the show, but neither of them were renewed after their first season.
