Payne is an American television show based on the British comedy classic Fawlty Towers. It starred John Larroquette, who played Dan Fielding, an associate district attorney on the American television show Night Court. Larroquette also served as the series' executive producer. Payne aired on CBS in March and April 1999 as a mid-season replacement. JoBeth Williams, Julie Benz, and Rick Batalla also appeared in the episode. Despite favorable reviews and the endorsement of John Cleese, who agreed to reprise his part if the program was renewed, Payne was shortly cancelled. Nine episodes were shot, and eight were shown. There is no DVD available for this show.
