Polseres vermelles, or Pulseras Rojas in Spanish, is a television program in Catalonia. The first season aired in 2011 on TV3, and a second season is scheduled to premiere in 2013. The program was created by Albert Espinosa, who drew inspiration from his childhood hospitalizations. On the film Herois, Espinosa and director-producer Pau Freixas had previously collaborated. The show chronicles the narrative of a group of Catalan youngsters and adolescents who meet in a hospital's pediatric ward. Themes include friendship, the desire to overcome adversity, and the resolve to live. The original idea for the show was four seasons, with the second season debuting in January 2013. Steven Spielberg's DreamWorks and Marta Kauffman's deal with TV3 for an American adaptation of Polseres Vermelles was announced in October 2011. In the summer of2012, the Spanish station Antena 3 broadcast the first season, dubbed into Spanish as Pulseras rojas. On 11 December2012, TV3 confirmed that its second season would broadcast on 14 January 2013. Antena 3 will air the dubbed version later in 2013.
