Megan Smith, an intelligent and eccentric young assistant at a glossy magazine, gets fired when her Yale degree hinders her advancement in the tabloid journalism industry. Her employer takes pity on her and sets up an appointment with the rich Laurel Limoges, who is seeking a live-in tutor for her twin teenage grandchildren. The beautiful and rebellious twins dislike their new tutor, but Megan is determined to win them over as she enjoys the trappings of her new employment, which include a spectacular private apartment, a luxurious automobile, and a personal chef.
