Psi Factor: Chronicles of the Paranormal is a Canadian science fiction drama television series that aired 88 episodes over four seasons from 1996 to 2000. Filmed in and around Toronto, Ontario, Canada, the series broadcast 88 episodes over four seasons. Although the show was a staged drama, the fact that Dan Aykroyd introduced and closed each episode and emphasized the validity of the organization it was based on prompted some viewers to take it more seriously than intended. In1997, the Committee for Skeptical Inquiry, then known as the Committee for the Scientific Investigation of Claims of the Paranormal, presented Dan Aykroyd the "Snuffed Candle" award for "contributing to the lack of public knowledge of the techniques of scientific inquiry."
