The show uses "mockumentary" techniques to show the made-up, reality-TV-style adventures of Forrest MacNeil, an enthusiastic professional critic who hosts a TV show called "Review" in which he does anything his viewers ask him to do to find out if it "is any good." After that, Forrest rates each life experience on a scale of one to five stars in the studio. But Forrest's insatiable curiosity and unwavering dedication to the show backfire in ways that make his life worse and worse as he is asked to review things like "stealing," "drug addiction," "being a racist," "getting divorced," "getting revenge," and "running from the law."
