Salute Your Shorts

Salute Your Shorts was a Nickelodeon comedy series that ran from 1991 to 1992 and was rebroadcast until the beginning of 1999 in reruns. Steve Slavkin's book Salute Your Shorts: Life at Summer Camp, published in 1986, served as the inspiration for the film. Set at Camp Anawant to, the series was filmed at Franklin Canyon Park and Griffith Park Boys Camp in Los Angeles' Griffith Park. Campers, their stern and obedient counselor, and their varied pranks and jokes are the focus of the film. The name is based on a typical camp prank: a bunch of kids take a boy's boxer shorts and raise them up a flagpole. As a result, when other students see them waving like a flag, they will salute them in jest.
