Second Thoughts was a British comedy that aired from May 3, 1991 to October 14, 1994. It was produced by LWT and shown on ITV. Faith in the Future was released as a sequel. Second Thoughts followed the lives of two middle-aged divorcees, Bill MacGregor and Faith Greyshott, who came from quite different backgrounds and were attempting to form a relationship despite the circumstances that were pulling them apart. Second thoughts was inspired by the writers' real-life partnership, Jan Etherington and Gavin Petrie. It first aired as a radio series on BBC Radio 4 between November 1, 1988, and July 23, 1992. The radio series had four seasons and a Christmas special broadcast in 1992, totaling 31 episodes. The radio scripts were adapted for the ITV series. The fifth series was thought to be poorer than the first four; it was the only series that was not based on the original radio scripts. Second Thoughts ended on October 14, 1994, but has since aired on ITV3. The original radio series is frequently rebroadcast on BBC7.
