On ABC from September16, 1964 until January8,1966, Shindig! was a popular American variety show. A disc jockey in Los Angeles at the time, Jimmy O'Neill, hosted the show with his wife Sharon Sheeley and production executive Art Stolnitz, who also conceived the show. Original pilot was rejected by ABC, which prompted ABC Executive Producer David Sontag to rework and re-design the show. Sam Cooke starred in a brand-new pilot that had an all-star cast of musicians. The pilot episode aired as the show's debut.
