Spider-Man: The New Animated Series

Spider-Man: The New Animated Series aired for one season, 13 episodes, beginning July11, 2003. It's a loose continuation of Sam Raimi's Spider-Man flick from 2002. The show was shown on MTV and YTV and included computer-generated visuals rendered in cel shading. Episodes aired in reruns on ABC Family as part of the Jetix television programming block eight months after the series finale. The series presented a significantly more mature depiction of the character than is common of animated comic book adaptations on television. Throughout the series, characters are slain rather than disappearing ambiguously, and several have sex.
