Taken, also known as Steven Spielberg Presents Taken, is a 2002 science fiction miniseries that premiered on the Sci-Fi Channel and received the Emmy Award for Outstanding Miniseries. Written by Leslie Bohem and directed by Breck Eisner, Félix Enrquez Alcalá, John Fawcett, Tobe Hooper, Jeremy Paul Kagan, Michael Katleman, Sergio Mimica-Gezzan, Bryan Spicer, Jeff Woolnough, and Thomas J. Wright, the film was shot in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Steven Spielberg and Leslie Bohem served as executive producers. The series spans the years 1944 to 2002 and covers the lives of three families: the Crawfords, who attempt to conceal the Roswell crash and the existence of aliens; the Keys, who are frequently subjected to alien experimentation; and the Clarkes, who hid one of the surviving aliens. Due to the series' lengthy plot, no actor or character appears in every episode. The series was well received and won an Emmy Award. Upon the premiere of the program, the Sci-Fi Channel incorporated the formation of the Coalition for Freedom of Information into its advertising campaign. This apparent overlap of clients was challenged. The Coalition for Freedom of Information is an organization that seeks the release of classified UFO files as well as scientific, congressional, and media legitimacy for the study of this topic.
