Within the DGSE (General Directorate for External Security), there is a department known as the Office of Legends (BDL). This department is responsible for training and remote piloting the most significant operatives of the clandestine division of the French intelligence agencies. Their aim is to find persons in the hostile area where they are operating who have the potential to be recruited as sources of intelligence. They spend several years living a double life while "operating under caption," which means assuming a completely manufactured persona. This allows them to avoid detection. Our hero recently got back from a covert mission that took him to Damascus for the past six years. However, despite the fact that he is expected to give up his legend and the identity under which he lived in Syria, he does not do so, placing the entire system in jeopardy as a result.
