Heirs portrays a group of rich, elite high school students who are being groomed to inherit their families' economic empires. Everything seemed to be under control for these rich students–except their love life. Kim Tan is an Empire Group heir who was sent to study abroad in the United States. In actuality, he is in exile because his older half-brother back home is plotting to take over the family business. Kim Tan meets Cha Eun Sung in the United States, who has traveled from Korea in quest of her older sister. He feels himself falling for her, not realizing she's the housekeeper's daughter. His heart is torn between love and duty as his fiancée Rachel Yoo arrives to return him to Korea. Rachel's half-brother Choi Young Do, meanwhile, develops an infatuation on Eun Sung.
