The Invisible Man

Vincent Ventresca, Paul Ben-Victor, Eddie Jones, Shannon Kenny, and Michael McCafferty star in the Sci-Fi American television series The Invisible Man. It aired for two seasons, from June9, 2000 to February1,2002, and was somewhat more successful than earlier television series portraying invisible secret operatives. The plot centres around Darien Fawkes, a criminal facing life in prison who was recruited by a low-rent spy organization and granted the power of invisibility by the implantation of an unique "Quicksilver gland" in his head. Fawkes can secrete a light-bending material dubbed "Quicksilver" from his pores and follicles thanks to the gland. His skin, hair, nails, and clothes are swiftly coated with the substance, rendering him invisible. He can consciously release the Quicksilver, which then flakes off and disintegrates. However, scientist Arnaud DeFehrn destroyed the Quicksilver gland's production by releasing a neurotoxic that accumulates in the bloodstream and produces tremendous agony, followed by antisocial behavior and psychosis. To keep him sane and healthy, the host requires frequent dosages of "counteragent," which is controlled by said government agency. This sitcom lasted two seasons before being canceled owing to cost difficulties and internal squabbles between Sci Fi Channel and its then-parent company, USA Networks. The first season of the show aired in both first-run syndication and on Sci Fi.
