The League of Gentlemen
The League of Gentlemen debuted in 1999 on BBC Two. The show is set in Royston Vasey, a fictional Lancashire town based on Bacup. Most of the weird residents are performed by three of the show's four writers—Mark Gatiss, Steve Pemberton, and Reece Shearsmith—who created the League of Gentlemen comedy team in 1995. The series ran from 1999 to2002, followed by a film in 2005. In December2017, a three-part revival miniseries celebrated the band's 20th anniversary.
