The Librarians is an Australian TV comedy show that started on October 31, 2007, on ABC TV. In Ireland, the show is on RTÉ Two. Robyn Butler and Wayne Hope, who are also the main actors, create and write the show. Hope is also the show's director. The first series had six half-hour episodes. The second series, which had six more episodes and started airing on August 5, 2009, was shot at the Royal Melbourne Showgrounds. The series focuses on Frances O'Brien, a head librarian who is a devout Catholic and a racist jerk. Her life falls apart when she is forced to hire her ex-best friend Christine Grimwood, who is now a drug dealer, as the children's librarian. Frances must do everything she can to hide her dangerous past and focus on Book Week, the biggest event on the library's calendar. Early in2010, a third season was filmed, and it aired on ABC1 that same year. The theme music for The Librarians is an upbeat version of Dizzy Gillespie's popular jazz song "A Night in Tunisia."
