The Odyssey

The Odyssey is an American fantasy-adventure TV miniseries from 1997 that won an Emmy Award and was nominated for a Golden Globe. The two-part miniseries started airing on NBC on May 18, 1997, and was directed by Andrei Konchalovsky. Later, the show won the award for "Outstanding Directing for a Miniseries or Special." The show is based on Homer's epic poem The Odyssey, which was written in ancient Greece. It was filmed in Malta and Turkey, as well as parts of England and many other places around the Mediterranean, where the story takes place. Armand Assante, Greta Scacchi, Irene Pappas, Isabella Rossellini, Bernadette Peters, Christopher Lee, and Vanessa L. Williams are among the international stars in the cast.
