The Untouchables

The Untouchables is an American crime drama that aired on ABC from 1959 to 1963. Based on Eliot Ness and Oscar Fraley's biography of the same name, it recreated Ness' experiences as a Prohibition agent combating crime in Chicago in the 1930s with the support of a special team of agents recruited for their daring and incorruptibility, dubbed the Untouchables. Brian De Palma adapted the novel into a film in 1987, with a storyline by David Mamet, and a second, less successful TV series in 1993. The Untouchables, a strong, hard-hitting crime drama, earned series lead Robert Stack an Emmy Award for Best Actor in a Dramatic Series in 1960.
