The Vision of Escaflowne

Sunrise Studios' The Vision of Escaflowne is a 26-episode Japanese anime television series directed by Kazuki Akane. It aired on TV Tokyo on April 2, 1996, and ended on September 24, 1996. The series was also broadcast on Sony's anime satellite channel, Animax, in Japan and on its international networks, including Hong Kong, Taiwan, Southeast Asia, and South Asia. Bandai Entertainment has licensed the series for release in Region 1. When a lad named Van emerges on the high school track while facing a dragon, Hitomi, a teenage high school student, is taken from Earth to the planet Gaea. She gets trapped in the thick of a conflict in Gaea, as the Zaibach Empire tries to take over the country. Van leads his mystical mech Escaflowne in the fight against the Zaibach Empire, with Allen's assistance. In Gaea, Hitomi's fortune-telling abilities bloom as she becomes the key to reawakening Escaflowne and foiling Zaibach's schemes. During the development of the anime series, two manga retellings of the narrative were created and released: a shnen version of the story called The Vision of Escaflowne and a shjo version called Hitomi—The Vision of Escaflowne. In1997, Escaflowne—Memories, Energist's a second shjo adaptation, was published in a single book. Yumiko Tsukamoto, Hajime Yatate, and Shoji Kawamori adapted the narrative into a six-book light novel series. Escaflowne: The Movie, a film adaptation, was released on June24,2000, but it has little similarity to the original series. In addition, the series has four CD soundtracks and a drama CD.
