Thomas & Friends

The debut episode of Thomas & Friends, a British children's television show, aired on ITV on September 4, 1984. It's based on the Reverend Wilbert Awdry and Christopher Awdry's Railway Series of books. These books are about the adventures of a group of people-like locomotives and road vehicles who live on the made-up Island of Sodor. The books were based on stories Wilbert told to his son Christopher while he was recovering from measles. Many of the stories in the first four series are based on Awdry's own experiences.
