Ultraman Max was an Ultraman TV show that began airing on July 7, 2005. It was made by Tsuburaya Productions and Chubu-Nippon Broadcasting Co., Ltd. With the exception of Ultraman Nexus, the show tried to get back to its original style, with new monsters every week and a fast pace. The show is full of references to other shows. For example, three of the original cast members from the first Ultraman series appear in an episode, and updated versions of classic monsters like Red King, Eleking, and Pigmon are also shown. One unusual episode is about the filming of the 1964 show Ultra Q, which came before the first Ultraman show in 1966. Two of the actors from that show appear as themselves.
