Serena
At the end of the 1920s, the mountains of North Carolina — George and Serena Pemberton, newlyweds who are head over heels in love, begin to develop a lumber empire. Serena quickly demonstrates herself to be a man's equal in a variety of situations, including supervising loggers, hunting rattlesnakes, and even saving a man's life in the woods. The Pembertons are not about to allow anyone stand in the way of their inflated love and ambitions, now that they have power and influence in their possession. Nevertheless, as Serena discovers George's hidden background and is forced to confront an unalterable destiny of her own, the Pembertons' passionate love begins to unravel, ultimately leading to a dramatic confrontation.
