The Reluctant Debutante
In London, Jimmy and Sheila Broadbent, we're glad to have you both here. Her name is Jane, and she's 17 years old. Her father and step-mother haven't met Jane before because he was married to an American. She has come to visit them. During their visit, Sheila thinks about making Jane a debutante, which Jane doesn't like. Jane doesn't want to be put on the marriage market. Mabel Claremont, Sheila's cousin, wants to marry wealthy David Fenner for her daughter Clarissa. Jane is attracted to David Parkson, an American drummer who plays in the orchestra at the coming-out balls.
