Strike
The movie shows a strike by workers at a factory in pre-revolutionary Russia in 1903, and how the government tried to stop them. The film is best known for a scene at the end in which the violent putting down of the strike is shown next to footage of cattle being slaughtered. There are also other places in the movie where animals are used as metaphors for the situations of different people. Collectivism is another theme in the movie, which was seen as a western film convention at the time.
