As a surprise to everyone, Yakumo accepts the eager ex-prisoner as an apprentice, nicknaming him "Yotaro." Among the people Yotaro encounters as he settles into his new home is Yakumo's ward Konatsu. Yakumo adopted Konatsu, the daughter of a famous storyteller, after her father died in a tragic way. Her father's stories made Konatsu want to be a performer in her own way; however, that road isn't open to women.
