Sola

Sola is a Japanese work that was created by Naoki Hisaya, and Naru Nanao made the original character designs. Sola is a mixed-media project that was first shown in the prologue of the manga, which came out in the Japanese manga magazine Dengeki Daioh on December 21, 2006, and was published by MediaWorks. The serialization of the manga, which is drawn by Chako Abeno, ended on February 21, 2008. Broccoli Books has a license to sell the manga in North America, and the first volume came out in June 2008. At Comiket 71 in December 2006, a short drama CD was released that also served as a prologue to the series. In May 2008, a second drama CD was released. In Japan, an anime version aired from April to June 2007. It had thirteen episodes, and two more episodes were only available on the DVD. Bandai Entertainment got the rights to sell a box set of all fifteen episodes with subtitles in North America. The name "Sola" sounds a lot like the Japanese word "sora." At the end of 2007, Sola got the most votes from Japanese anime fans as the best anime of the year.
